THE ROCKS ARE COMING!

Something happened in the asteroid belt. We don't know what, but now there's a cosmic buttload of big-ass rocks heading our way! It's your job to...

Sorry, sorry, I just want to clarify, the rocks are big-ass rocks. Not big ass-rocks.

It's your job to protect earth. We created an orbital shield network, but we didn't have much time so it's... well... it's a bit rubbish.

LOOK, WE DID THE BEST WE COULD!

How to Play

Earth's shield is split into four quadrants. To activate one, simply move the mouse around the planet to the desired quadrant and click. Clicking again in the same quadrant will deactivate that shield.

Unfortunately, our infrastructure can only power one shield at a time, so you'll have to decide which shields to activate.

Oh, and we can't run the shields indefinitely. We've given you a handy power meter so you can see how much juice is in the grid. If you let the grid run dry, there won't be any power for the shields.

Oh oh oh, and the generators can only take so much abuse. Each impact causes them to overheat. If they take three hits too close together, they're out of commission until they've cooled down.

Oh oh oh oh oh, and the grid is mostly solar powered. It's great. It's clean. It's environmentally friendly. It... doesn't work at night. We do store energy, obviously, but there's less of it at night, so the grid recharges slower.

The rocks come in waves that last 30 seconds. At the end of each wave, you can upgrade one aspect of Earth's defenses.

Controls

Just your mouse. Move the mouse around the planet to select a quadrant to activate. A selection marker should make it abundently clear which quadrant you have selected.

Click the LEFT mouse button to activate or deactivate a shield.

If you need to bring up the pause menu to adjust the volume or restart the game, hit Escape. Thassit.

Radial Menu Game Jam #1

This game was made over the course of two Twitch streams (check me out bby) for the Radial Menu Game Jam. As the name suggests, the jam demanded radial menus. I decided to make the shields of Earth into a radial menu.

The theme of the jam was "Light & Darkness". My interpretation of that was the day/night mechanic. The earth passes through day and night and, during the night time, the energy grid charges slower. Yes, I know it's always daytime on half the planet. This is a 2D pixel art game. Shut up.

HOWEVER

I did use some assets from the Unity Asset store and right here on Itch. Here are some links so that you, intrepid viewer of this page, could also use said assets if you so chose.

Great use of the planet assets! Had some fun, made it to wave 20!

Somewhat easy game loop, got damn hard on wave 16 (for some reason). Here cause you show up in my mail so I won't leave a jam rating :)

I 'preciate you

I need that list!

The game's awesome though!

Ahh the list. Bugger. Thanks for reminding me. And for playing the game!
